Help, Safety and Information
BATTERY TYPES:
- Silver Oxide low drain (button cell's) are for watches without a light or alarm, they are 1.55 Volts
- Silver Oxide high drain (button cell's) are for watches with a light or alarm, they are 1.55 Volts
- Lithium (coin cell's) are mainly used in Casio watches and some car key fob's, they are 3 Volts
- Mercury batteries (1.3 volts) are now obsolete, you can usually use a Silver Oxide (1.55 volts)
- Most fire alarm's use a 9 Volt PP3 Alkaline battery (replace yearly)
- Ni-MH rechargeable batteries lose about half their charge per month
- Alkaline button batteries are unsuitable for watches, as the voltage is unstable and they will leak, destroying your watch
SAFETY:
- DO NOT leave batteries where children can play with them, they could be swallowed (if a battery is swallowed get medical help)
- DO NOT put batteries in your pocket or purse with metal objects, as they may short circuit the battery, making it very hot, leak or explode
- DO NOT try to recharge non-rechargeable batteries - they may explode, leak or give off toxic gasses
- DO NOT burn batteries, they may explode or give off toxic gasses
- DO NOT fit a rechargeable battery in a smoke alarm - they discharge in about 2 months
